Valerie Winn, a native of McComb, Mississippi, is the recipient of a 2008 Literary Arts Fellowship from the Mississippi Arts Commission. A former teacher of art and journalism, she has written for several state newspapers and magazines. She has been a finalist in the Pirate’s Alley Faulkner Society’s Creative Writing Competition and the James Jones First Novel Fellowship. A graduate of Mississippi State University, she and her husband, Frank, live in Gautier on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Forsaking Mimosa is her first novel.

John M. Floyd is the author of more than 1000 short stories and features in publications like The Strand Magazine, Woman's World, Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine, and The Saturday Evening Post. A former Air Force captain and IBM systems engineer, he won the 2007 Derringer Award for short mystery fiction and has been nominated three times for the Pushcart Prize. His work has also been named to The Best American Mystery Stories "Distinguished Stories List" on four separate occasions.

Barbie Bassett is the chief meteorologist for WLBT-3 in Jackson, Mississippi. Originally from the Delta town of Marks, Barbie is a graduate of Mississippi College and has a Master’s degree in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University. She and her family live in Madison, Mississippi, and are active members of Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Ridgeland.

Born in Brookhaven and raised in Natchez, Mississippi, Jim Ritchie is retired after stints as an army officer, computer salesman and consulting firm owner.  A graduate of Ole Miss, Jim is an avid outdoorsman who has always loved a good story.  He and his wife Perry, an accomplished artist and a fellow Mississippi native, live in the community of Shocco, Mississippi.

A native of Brookhaven, Mississippi and a proud graduate of Ole Miss, Mike Windham worked in radio and television before moving into sales, marketing, and the insurance industry. His humorous stories have been published in Tombigbee Country Magazine, Oxford SO and SO, and Bluffs & Bayous, with over 100 of his business articles in trade journal magazines and newspapers. Mike and his wife have three grown children and live in Brookhaven.
